Kodi 17.4 the most recent release, is an open-source media center app that allows you to browse and view videos files, photos, podcasts, and music from your local hard-drive, optical disc, local network, as well as stream from the internet. Kodi is cross-platform hence it runs on Linux, Mac OS X, Windows, as well as smartphones (iOS and Android).   • Addressed crashing on Windows due to an issue in Python, as well as when enabling zeroconf
  • Fixed the sporadic crash on Windows when installing or updating add-ons
  • Also fixed issue for users with reverse proxies attempting to forward websockets
  • Fixed possible issue if Linux distro uses system ffmpeg and cause black screen with 10-bit H.265
  • Properly throttle scraping music information online to prevent overloading the provider
  • Addressed native keyboard on iOS 11
  • Fixed potential crash on Android O loading App icons
  • Also fixed non showing Kodi banner on Android O
  • Fixed potential crash on Android with certain keymaps
  • Addressed wrong detection of VP6 and VP8 videocodec on Android
  • Update FFmpeg to 3.1.9
  • Set hard requirement to use FFmpeg 3.1.x only
  • Fixed for Hangup when viewing recording and pressing next/previous
  • Addressed the merged scraped album type and label correctly with that derived from tags from music files
  • Fixed possible crash on Linux when using ALSA
  • Save skin settings immediatly after they have changed instead of only on shutdown

installs but just disappears with out opening on ubuntu 17.04

You need to look into CentOS instruction. It installs kodi 14 on CentOS 7 and not Kodi 17.

in continuation from my previous comment, both the repositories which you mentioned don’t have kodi. Kodi 14 came from nux repo.

Hence I again tried after disabling all other repos and only from rpmfusion

# yum –disablerepo=”*” –enablerepo=”rpmfusion*” install kodi
No package kodi available.


Have tried to install Kodi 17.3 “Krypton” on Ubuntu 17.04 following your instructions above, but get the following error. Any ideas? thanks
