digiKam 5.7.0 released with new tool to create print layouts

digiKam 5.7.0 recently released, is an advanced digital photo management app for Linux. It make importing as well as organizing digital photos a “snap”. Also photos are organized in albums which can be sorted chronologically, by folder layout or by custom collections. This latest release comes with a new tool to create print layouts, also introduced is the albums can now be exported by mail, there is support for Hugin 2017 and GPS traces are storable as KML. Let’s take a quick look at what this release offers before we proceed to install digikam on Linux

  • Print Creator – This wizard now allows you to print multiple images in various configurations. Also if the aspect ratio does not fit the printing format, you can choose which part of the image to crop (if at all)
  • Send by Mail – You can now set an upper limit to the email size, convert images on the fly and remove all metadata from the files.
  • Bugs Triage – The bugs categories was updated and went through all of them to reassign them to the correct category as well as find no longer valid or duplicate bugs
